Modular Block Signals Tutorial for Model Railroads
Description
A comprehensive tutorial for crafting a 3 Aspect Modular Block Signal Driver designed for continuous and point-to-point model railroad operations. This Arduino-based system supports both DC and DCC, providing a simple and effective solution for managing block occupancy. Features include directional signal lights, independent block occupancy detection, and easy setup with a dedicated circuit board. Watch the video demonstration and learn how to assemble the signal driver circuit board for seamless integration into your model railroad layout.
Key Features:
- Suitable for continuous or point-to-point operations
Compatible with both DC and DCC
Arduino-based 3 aspect signal light modular block occupancy system
Signal light colors indicate train direction and block occupancy
Connects to an independent block occupancy detector

Layout Requirements:
Each block requires one signal driver
Dispatcher’s control panel requires a single on/on switch for train direction
External block occupancy detector input required
Assembly Instructions:
1. Solder pin headers to the Arduino board
2. Trim DuPont pin sockets to fit Arduino board pins
3. Solder pin sockets onto the circuit board
4. Install screw terminals
5. Confirm resistor compatibility with your LEDs
6. Solder resistors in place
Usage:
Arduino mini comes pre-programmed
Connect light wires to designated screw terminals
Connect drivers via wiring between identically labeled screw terminals
Connect direction and occupancy detector wires
