This video shows 6 mm static grass being added to a surface covered with a layer of sifted potting soil. The soil was glued using diluted PVA glue. After drying it was sprayed with highly diluted PVA and alcohol. That make a hard surface.
This surface will be used as the terrain of a small diorama with a stream.
First a thin layer of grass was spread on a patch of glue. It was “junk” grass that was just dropped in place. It made for a green base over patches of taller grass are layered.
Note that the finished layering leaves something that does not look like a lawn. I will add other layers of taller grass, bushes and weeds.
So this is a first step.
The shaker being used is a jar that is attached to a StaticGrassKing static grass applicator (it was assembled from a kit – link here.)
I use a jar because it is easy to make and because I store all my grass in jars. To change grass, all that I have to do is move the screened top to a different jar.
